Covid – 19

The French governement has decided that all institutions and companies except food stores and pharmacies must be closed until April 15th, 2020. This rule covers all sports facilities such as riding schools.

Horse Holidays France is closed to public from March 14th at midnight unil April 15th included.

If you have booked a trail ride or other equestrian activity before April 15th, please do contact us to move it to a later date or, if this is not possible, to cancel your ride.

Dear riders and friends, take care of yourself and your loved ones! We look forward to seeing you again as soon as this health crisis is over!

A romantic stroll on horseback for Valentine’s Day

Treat the woman or the man of your life with a romantic stroll on horseback. You will be accompanied by an equestrian guide who will leave you some moments of intimacy but who will also make you discover the wonderful forest of Saint-Germain and intoduce you to the historical and equestrian heritage of Maisons-Laffitte.

Rate : 170 € for 2 persons

Length : 3 hours, including 1½ hours on horseback.

Price inludes:
  • Horseback ride led by a qualified horse riding guide or instructor.
  • Saddlery and the equipment for the horse.
  • A class of champagne with chocolates.
  • V.A.T.
Not included in the price:
  • The FFE (French Equestrian Federation) licence which is recommended and includes an insurance.
  • Riders equipment. We suggest that you wear a comfortable pair of trousers or jeans, boots or shoes with small heels. Riding helmets are mandatory and available upon request.

This week-end Horse Holidays France had the great pleasure of receiving a group of riders from Japan during 2 days. Saturday they discovered the beautiful bridleways in the Saint-Germain forest and Monday the enjoyed a nice ride in Versailles castle estate.

A carriage ride through history on July 1, 2017

Saturday, July 1, discover the secrets of the history of Maisons-Laffitte aboard our carriage following the traces of Napoleon, Voltaire, Ernest Hemingway and Jean Cocteau. Listen to the surprising story of the Maisons-Laffitte hippodrome, its castle and the beautiful villas in the park. 

Ouir guide will introduce you to Maisons-Laffitte’s heritage and tell you her most amazing anecdotes. The walk ends around a glass of champagne in the castle park. This walk is accessible to all.

Guided tour at Pavillon de la Muette, carriage ride and typical French picnic.

Saturday June 3, we invite you for a carriage ride from the park in Maisons-Laffitte, through the Saint-Germain forest.


We will take a break at the hunting lodge, Pavillon de la Muette, built under Lous XV but also frequently visited by Napoleon. The owner of this extraordinary place will personnaly guide you and make you discover this hidden tresure. After the visit we will have a nice typically French picnic prepared by a chef.

Full day trail ride in the Saint-Germain forest : Sunday April 2, 2017

 

Sunday, April 2, 2017 we offer a full day trail ride from Maisons-Laffitte. We explore the forest of Saint-Germain passing by the Château de Val, just next to the Saint-Germain-en-Laye castle and the Mare aux Canes (a very cute Duck Pond in the forest). For lunch, our assistance team will prepare a nice pique-nique with French specialities.

The forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, area reserved for the royal hunts since Charlemagne, knew a great development from the sixteenth century and the reign of Francis I. The latter makes pierced alleyways crossing in a star to facilitate hunting, The “Capitainerie des Chasses de Saint-Germain”, created in 1559, was one of the largest in the Kingdom. It’s enormous area currently corresponds to the territory of about 140 municipalities, about twice the capacity of Fontainebleau. The hunting in the forest was practiced in the forest of Saint Germain until 1870 by the kings and emperors.

Today we have 77 km of well-maintained horse tracks. Welcome to spend a day on this exceptional playground!

Full day trail ride with raclette lunch : Sunday February 12th, 2017

 

Sunday, February 12, 2017 we offer a full day trail ride from Maisons-Laffitte. We explore the forest of Saint-Germain passing by the Château de Val, just next to the Saint-Germain-en-Laye castle and the Mare aux Canes (a very cute Duck Pond in the forest). We will have lunch at La Faisanderie, an old hunting lodge, built under Louis XIII.

The forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, area reserved for the royal hunts since Charlemagne, knew a great development from the sixteenth century and the reign of Francis I. The latter makes pierced alleyways crossing in a star to facilitate hunting, and imposes a strict legal framework for questions relating to this “art of nobility”, a monopoly of the King and the nobles, which is now endowed with a special framework regulation ; the “Capitainerie des Chasses”.

The “Capitainerie des Chasses de Saint-Germain”, created in 1559, was one of the largest in the Kingdom. It’s enormous area currently corresponds to the territory of about 140 municipalities, about twice the capacity of Fontainebleau.

The hunting in the forest was practiced in the forest of Saint Germain until 1870 by the kings and emperors. To this end, buildings were built; “hunting lodges” of which the Faisanderie that we will make you discover.
